International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15).

The standard describes phytosanitary measures (heat treatments) that will reduce the risk of introduction and proliferation of pests that are related to the movements of the international trading with wooden packaging.

Heat treatment, HT, means that the wood must be heated within its core to 56°C for at least 30 minutes.

The meaning of ISPM-15 is to antagonize the proliferation and pests and deceases across countries by using treated wood material.

ISPM-15 allows except heat treatment also treatment by chemicals in order to reach the same protection. However, Åsljunga Pallen do not conduct any ISPM-15 treatment with chemicals. Our products are only treated with heat.

Except for the heat treatment we also kiln dry all our products. We dry all of our products to a average moisture content of 16 %. It’s generally lower that the market can offer. We do this because it minimizes the possibility for the products to be contaminated by mold when they are consumed.
